My name is Sarah Cazorla. I was born in New York City (yes, I know you can hear the accent a bit), and raised in New Hampshire. In my youth I was a competitive equestrian and spent as much time as I could at the barn. Along with competing, I trained young horses, taught lessons, and volunteered in therapeutic riding classes for mental, physical, and emotional disabilities. Horseback riding taught me humility, patience and perseverance- valuable life skills that were the foundation of my pursuit of becoming a plastic surgeon. I have always been artistically inclined, with a passion for science and a thirst for knowledge. Plastic Surgery felt like a natural choice for me, a choice I made at the age of 15. I went on to graduate High School as Salutatorian with a perfect GPA and eyes on a future in medicine.
The beautiful state of Florida became another love of mine at the age of 18. Receiving an academic scholarship to The University of Tampa, I pursued my Bachelor of Science in Biology with minors in both Spanish and Biochemistry. Being a girl with many passions, I found another is learning about languages and cultures. In college I became fluent in Spanish and met the love of my life, a Brazilian man. He eventually helped me become fluent in Brazilian Portuguese as well. I graduated Cum Laude and went on to medical school, where I graduated in the top ten of my class, becoming the first female board-certified plastic surgeon to graduate from the American University of the Caribbean in St Maarten.
I went on to general surgery residency at Texas Tech Health and Science Center in Lubbock, Texas. They were the only Level One Trauma Center and Regional Burn Center from Albuquerque to San Antonio, having a huge 2 million person catch area that saw A LOT of trauma and burn victims. There I honed my skills in critical care and burn reconstruction. I also was lucky to have mentorship of some incredible ENT surgeons who took me under their wing and taught me facial reconstruction for trauma, ear reconstruction for congenital microtia (children born without ears) and pediatric facial and cranial plastic surgery. This unique experience solidified my dreams to become a plastic surgeon.
My final stop in my sixteen years of higher education was The University of Virginia in beautiful Charlottesville, Virginia. Finally, I was able to do exactly what I had dreamed of as a child in New Hampshire. Diving into my second residency training dedicated to all aspects of plastic surgery, I found my niche and my greatest love to be cosmetic plastic surgery and breast reconstruction. I am a mother of two girls, both of whom were born during my residencies. I find I connect well with my patients in their desire to regain their confidence back after childbirth.
My connection to my reconstructive patients goes a step deeper. The root of the word ‘Plastic’ comes from the Greek word ‘plastos’ which means to shape or to mold. Plastic surgery came about during WWI, when Soldiers in the trenches were disfigured by battle. At that time plastic surgery was used to restore form and function giving these men a second chance at life after war. I maintain my roots in my field by continuing to perform restorative surgeries for women whose bodies have been changed by their battles with breast cancer, and it is my honor to serve them by helping to restore their bodies to a healthier form that allows them to feel confident and beautiful in their own skin once again.

The culmination of my training was in becoming a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon. The American Board of Medical Specialties is the only recognized certifying board in the United States. There are other “boards” that people can certify in, that do not apply the same rigorous standards. Board Certification is the highest level of assurance for the public that a specialty trained surgeon is operating on you. The process is rigorous and difficult and requires yearly recertification to maintain. If you are interested in having plastic surgery, I encourage you to go onto the American Board of Plastic Surgery website and enter your surgeon’s name to assure they are certified and licensed. Your health and safety is of the utmost importance.
Through my many years of training, moving around the country, having children, and experiencing the good the bad and the ugly that comes with life; I have taken on a holistic approach to my practice. I believe strongly that plastic surgery is a tool that can be used to enhance ourselves and restore our bodies. It is not a band aid or a substitute for health and wellness. I encourage my patients to not get caught up on things they don’t like but find opportunities to make their bodies healthier, stronger and more radiant. I try to help guide them to use this opportunity that plastic surgery offers as a jumping off point to a healthier, happier and stronger life. Nothing happens overnight and there is no easy fix, but a positive attitude and hard work goes a long way and at the end and for the right patient a little plastic surgery can act like the cherry on top!
Nabella Plastic Surgery is named after my two daughters Natalia and Isabella. Their names are incorporated into my female owned and operated practice, because I believe my practice is an extension of my family. At Nabella Plastic Surgery everyone is treated with respect, compassion and empathy. Top notch surgical skill and precision is married with a true passion and love of my craft and the art of what I do to help men and women every day. The logo of my practice is inspired by the female form and the lotus flower. I always wanted to incorporate the lotus into my practice because it is a symbol of resilience. This beautiful flower grows out of the muddiest water. It is a symbol of purity, strength, resilience and rebirth.
The lotus cannot be there without the mud. Likewise, happiness cannot be there without suffering. Looking deeply into our suffering, we gain an understanding of it, which gives happiness a chance to blossom.
